- What is a 52-week high?
- A 52-week high is the highest price a stock has traded at over the past year. When a stock takes out its 52-week high it is in "price discovery", trading above every price the last year of buyers paid, which many momentum traders read as strength. A 52-week low is the mirror: the lowest price over the past year.
- How is this list built?
- We scan the whole market's official daily bars and flag every stock whose latest completed session (Thursday, Sep 10) set a new high or low versus its trailing 52 weeks. The list is filtered to liquid names (price of $1+ and at least $1M in dollar volume) and guarded against stock-split artifacts, then ranked by dollar volume so the biggest, most-traded names surface first.
- Why are stocks ranked by dollar volume instead of by percent?
- Ranking new highs by percentage would surface thin, illiquid microcaps. Dollar volume (price × shares traded) ranks by how much real money changed hands, so the names you have actually heard of, the ones worth watching, appear at the top.
- Is a new 52-week high bullish or bearish?
- It depends on your strategy. Trend and breakout traders buy strength and treat new highs as confirmation. Value-minded traders may see an extended price. New 52-week lows are the inverse, a warning to some, a potential bounce to others. This page is information, not a recommendation.
- How often does it update?
- Daily bar data settles after each market close, so the highs and lows refresh once the new session completes. Intraday, watch live unusual-volume alerts and real-time movers across the rest of the site.
