- What are the most active stocks today?
- The most active stocks are those trading the highest dollar volume (share price × shares traded), ranked from Tuesday, Aug 25. High dollar volume means real money and liquidity are moving through the name, which is what day traders and institutions watch.
- Why rank by dollar volume instead of share volume?
- Raw share volume favors penny stocks, a $0.50 stock trading 50M shares is only $25M of real activity. Dollar volume (price × shares) measures actual money changing hands, so it surfaces the names that genuinely matter.
- What is the "Most Active by scanner alerts" list?
- A second ranking by how many unusual-volume (RVOL) and momentum alerts each stock triggered recently. Dollar volume surfaces the largest, most liquid names (often the market giants); scanner alerts surface the stocks that were unusually busy for a day trader, typically volatile small and mid-caps making sharp moves. The two lists answer different questions, so we show both.
