Frequently asked questions
How the next-session watchlist is built on TheDesperateTrader.
- How is this watchlist built?
- It scores every stock we track against a set of independent signals: today’s momentum and unusual volume, gaps that held, short-squeeze setups (short interest vs float), low float, 13F institutional buying, insider open-market buys, Reddit and Google buzz, extended-hours moves, and scheduled earnings for the next session. A stock that lights up on several of these at once ranks higher, and the reasons under each name tell you exactly why it made the list.
- What do the four tabs mean?
- Overall is the best all-around plays for the whole session. Premarket weights names likely to move before the 9:30a open: after-hours movers, before-the-bell earnings, gappers, and squeeze setups. At the Open weights the opening-drive names: momentum, unusual volume, gap-and-go, and morning earnings reactions. After Hours weights names with an after-the-bell catalyst, chiefly companies reporting earnings after the close.
- When does it update to the next day?
- The board targets the current session until 8:00 PM ET on a trading day, then rolls to the next trading day (weekends and market holidays are skipped). So after the after-hours close it becomes tomorrow’s watchlist, built on today’s closing tape and after-hours action.
- Is this a buy recommendation?
- No. This is a watchlist, a starting point for your own homework, not financial advice. The signals flag stocks likely to be in play; direction and risk are yours to judge. Tap any ticker for its live chart, catalysts, and real-time alerts.
